Federal Stafford Student Loan(s)

NGS offers the Federal Stafford Loan(s) through various lenders, you may choose. Please check the terms and repayment benefits of each lender before making your educated choice. A maximum loan amount of $20,500 per year may be borrowed to attend graduate school. A subsidized loan up to $8,500 is available to graduate students and maximum of $12,000 may be borrowed in the form of an unsubsidized loan. Repayment begins six months after graduation and you have ten years to repay. Deferments are available for a variety of reasons, for example, students paying on outstanding loans may postpone repayment.

Applying is Free

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is your key to initiating the loan process. The FAFSA is used by the government to determine your eligibility and EFC (Expected Family Contribution) for these loans. To start the loan process, click on the links below to download and print a step-by-step instructions page and two additional forms that are required to be submitted as originals:

  1. Instructions
  2. Lender Choices: We recommend these lenders based on the quality of products and services they provide to our students. We have carefully considered our selections in order to provide you with the best possible list of suggested lenders. However, if you wish to use another lender that is not on this list, you have the right to do so.
a.) Bank of America            Master Promissory Note           Entrance/Exit Form

Tuition Assistance for Government and Military Personnel

The Armed Forces Tuition Assistance (TA) Program is a benefit paid to eligible members of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard. Congress has given each service the ability to pay up to 100% for the Tuition Expenses of its members.

Each Service has its own criteria for eligibility, obligated service, application process and restrictions. This money is usually paid directly to the institution by the individual services. Although the program is one year long, military students typically are eligible for up to two fiscal years of reimbursement.

Additionally, active duty members may elect to use the MGIB "Top-Up" in addition to their service provided TA to cover high cost courses.

TA is not a loan; it should be seen as money you have earned just like your base pay! When combined with a Stafford Loan, you could start the graduate program with no out-of-pocket expenses.  Call to talk to a Financial Aid Officer today.

Interested students should meet with their local Education Service Officer to determine their benefit. In some cases job training funds may be applied. It is the responsibility of the student to obtain the appropriate tuition assistance forms and send them to the Bursar's office:

    Ms. Mary Orlando, Bursar
    National Graduate School
    500 Victory Road, 2nd Floor
    North Quincy, MA 02171
    Phone: (800) 838-2580
    Fax: (617) 847-6316

The Bursar's Office will invoice the government once the approved TA form is submitted. The student is responsible for submitting his/her grades to their education office.

Veteran's Benefits

Under the Montgomery GI Bill, (MGIB) the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard and their reserves and the National Guard provides up to 36 months of education benefits to eligible veterans for college. Benefits are adjusted each year.

The student must apply and complete the enrollment form. Once accepted, the VA will supply the student with a Statement of Eligibility. The student submits the Eligibility Form to the Bursar. A VA Certification Form is completed by the NGS certifying official.

If you are receiving Tuition Assistance from your branch of service, you may be eligible to use MGIB to supplement or "Top-Up" your tuition assistance. For more information, call 1-888-GIBILL-1 (1-888-442-4551) or log in to the GI Bill Website:

Tuition Reimbursement/Company Sponsorship/ Vouchers

NGS staff understands the corporate tuition reimbursement process and can easily work with your employee benefit plan. Typically, NGS invoices the employer directly. If employed by a company, contact your Human Resources Department regarding funds available for degree and certificate candidates. NGS will accept company vouchers and bill companies directly to minimize out of pocket expenses. Students must submit a letter from their company guaranteeing payment before the first course. Students whose company pays by pre-approved voucher must submit that voucher prior to registration. Otherwise, students are expected to make payment to the School and then be reimbursed by their company.

Tuition Scholarships for Spouses of Enrolled DoD/DHS Students

Spouses of enrolled Department of Defense / Department of Homeland Security students receive the same discounted tuition rate as their enrolled spouses. It's fun going to school together! Apply Now!
